Overview: What if your sport experience could be different? What if you could compete at a high level and still have fun? What if there was less team drama and more team building? What if the yelling on the sidelines turned to cheering? What if you could fall in love with your sport all over again? You can and we can help you. We can teach you how to lead yourself, your teammates and those around you to a new place for a new experience.

The Girls in Sports Leadership Academy is open to any high school girl who plays any sport at any level. You don’t need to be a captain or even a key player. We believe everyone has influence and we want to teach you how to use your influence for good.

We know things can be different and we know you can make a difference. At the Girls in Sports Leadership Academy we use the sport experience to develop the leaders the world is waiting for. What are you waiting for?

About Us:  Each year we have watched the Girls in Sports Leadership Academy grow as high school student-athletes arrive to learn and practice their leadership skills. There are many camps that focus on the skill development specific to sports but rarely are young female athletes in a safe environment where they can develop their leadership skills. At the Girls in Sports Leadership Academy we will not be playing sports. We will however, utilize the platform of athletics to teach leadership skills. In a world where young girls see few female role models in the media we need to create a context where they can learn what it truly means to lead. Athletes have a visible platform and live in a spotlight. Understanding how to lead from that platform and how to use that spotlight for good can truly transform a young girl’s experience in life.

Our Participants: The Girls in Sports Leadership Academy is open to any girl who is a current high school student. Each participant needs to play a sport at some level. The sport can be a school sponsored sport or a club sport. The girls do not need to be the designate Captain or even a key player. The simple nature of being an athlete provides an opportunity for leadership.

Our Vision: The vision of the Girls in Sports Leadership Academy is to provide an environment for girls to grow & develop as leaders and to be inspired to make a difference in our world. We believe that our culture values athletes at a significantly higher level which creates a wonderful opportunity for leadership and social change through sports. We want to be a part of developing a generation of young leaders.

Our Curriculum: We will utilize various teaching techniques. Our curriculum will be taught through lectures, small groups, panel discussions, experiential learning and self-discovery. We will utilize a variety of teaching methods with the hope of meeting the needs of each participant.

Our Staff: The Girls in Sports Leadership Academy will be Directed by Molly Grisham and Cristin Allen. Our Staff members will include educators, professionals and athletes who all have expertise in leadership. As the Girls in Sports Leadership Academy continues to grow we look forward to bringing back former participants as Staff members.
